Pada Kamis 10 November 2011, Menteri Luar Negeri Indonesia, Dr. R.M. Marty M. Natalegawa, atas mandat dari Presiden RI, Dr H. Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, menyematkan Bintang Mahaputera Adipradana bagi Bapak Yasuo Fukuda, mantan Perdana Menteri Jepang. Upacara penyematan berlangsung di Hotel Imperial, Tokyo, dihadiri oleh para pejabat dari Kementerian Luar Negeri Jepang, para anggota Japan-Indonesia Association (JAPINDA), Duta Besar Muhammad Lutfi, dan Konjen Osaka, Ibnu Hadi. Penghargaan ini dianugerahkan oleh Presiden RI kepada Bapak Fukuda melalui Keputusan Presiden No. 81/TK/Tahun 2011 atas jasa-jasa yang luar biasa bagi peningkatan persahabatan dan kemajuan hubungan kedua negara sahabat. |

Indonesia and Japan to strengthen defense cooperation |

Indonesian Minister of Defense, Purnomo Yusgiantoro, visited National Defense Academy of Japan (NDA), in Kanagawa Prefecture on 13 January 2011, giving lecture to Indonesian cadets under training at the facility. 38 Indonesian cadets have concluded training program in the NDA so far. Such training and exchange program is an important element to improve the defense cooperation between the two countries. Minister Yusgiantoro was accompanied by Ambassador Muhammad Lutfi and Governor S.H. Sarundajang of the North Sulawesi Province, host of the ASEAN Regional Forum – Disaster Relief Exercise (ARF-DiRex) in March 2011.

New Tokyo–Jakarta direct flight to promote friendship and strengthen cooperation |

A new All-Nippon-Airways (ANA) direct route from Narita Airport (Tokyo) to Soekarno-Hatta Airport (Jakarta) was launched on 7 January 2010. The inauguration ceremony was held before the initial flight scheduled at 8:40am. In his remarks on behalf of the Indonesian Ambassador to Japan, the Deputy Chief of Mission of the Indonesian Embassy said that the flight will encourage more people to come to Indonesia and promote visits between the two countries. ANA Senior Vice President (Mr. Haruo Ezuka) and Narita International Airport President and CEO (Mr. Kosaburo Morinaka) were at the ceremony, along with Minister Counsellor of Economic Affairs and Transportation Attaché Assistant of the Indonesian Embassy. |
